Because I have so many scans and images from sources on my website that aren't me and my camera, I thought it would be wise to say a few words about Fair Use. And since I abhor reinventing the wheel, here is a rather detailed explanation about fair use and public domain I found via Jen Thompson's Festive Attyre site.

In short, I am allowed to use these images without financial compensation to the owners because:

1) this website is for educational purposes,
2) I am not making money off of my use of the images, and
3) I am only using a fraction of the body of work I pulled the images from.

I attempt to give credit where it is due and provide names, links, and other information about where I found the image whenever I can. Sometimes I don't have the information on hand about who took the pictures, but that does not necessarily mean I am disregarding the photographer's rights. It could just mean I'm lazy and haven't dug up the information. So sue me. (um, wait . .)

Of course, if you are the owner of any image on my site and would like for me to take it down, all you need to do is to ask me. I would, however, ask in return that you first consider if my minor use of your image is doing you or your work any actual damage, if I just simply haven't gotten around to getting your information listed near the picture, and if you really want me to take it down, if you have another way I could replace the image. I choose every picture for its unique ability to express myself and my projects, and losing one without a replacement will wind up doing damage to my work.

Am I freaking out about this a little over much? Perhaps. That being said, please remember that all pages on this website are under copyright whether or not they are expressly stated as such (oh yeah, that's the law!), and if you are going to use my work to please let me know as well as give me due credit on your work. Do that, and we're golden.
