RACAIRE'S WALL HANGING
I wanted to kick off this showcase with a project that flabbergasted me with its scope, attention to detail, and adherance to the original. It is not done, but what is done is amazing! |
| The embroiderer is named Racaire (mka Anna Neuman),who is the newest guild head of Drachenwald's embroidery guild. She lives in the shire of Ad Flumen Caerulum (Vienna, Austria), mere blocks from the Kunsthistorisches Musem Vienna (lucky!). Her personal website can be found here, and has much more information on this and other projects of hers. |
| For this particular project, Racaire chose the early 14th cent. German Malterer Hanging as her inspiration. She changed the arrangement slightly so there are two levels instead of one, but used the same technique of Klosterstitch in colored wool threads from Renaissance Dyeing. She started this project in August of 2006 and is still going strong. |
I will let the pictures speak for themselves as to just how cool a project this is. However, Racaire did say she wanted to remind everyone to enjoy their embroidery. So very true . . for if you're not having fun, then something's wrong! |
