I volunteered to embroider one of the two labels for Sabrina de la Bere’s kneeling carpet cases. I believe Sabrina is embroidering the other one; not sure about that. Anyway, I received the kit to embroider the label about a month ago. It included some of the same wool threads that were used on the carpet itself – gold, orange, brown, and green. Like the carpet, I used short lengths of three strands of wool to stitch. The label did not take terribly long to complete, as it is the same continental stitch that I used for the entire carpet. The stitch, therefore, has been burned into my brain.
The only real problems I encountered along the way were the original pattern, which I revised slightly to make the acorns be consistent within their circle, and the slight tilting of the canvas after so much one-way stitching. And once again, I had to hide the wool from my cat to keep her from . . well, appreciating it. |
