TRIM FOR 12TH NIGHT GUILD AUCTION
Updates:
The West Kingdom Needleworker's Guild is having a silent auction at the upcoming 12th Night in order to raise funds for our coffers. I have volunteered to embroider a set of blackwork cuffs and trim to donate to the effort. |
|
I've decided to do this trim on clothing linen, which adds a level of difficulty to the project. I am using one strand of black Splendor silk and a tapestry needle. I've started with the embroidery and will do all the tie offs later. I'm just lazy that way. |
|
I got the pattern from the copies of Bronwen's Blackwork Archives that Catherine Lorraine made for me. The patterns were charted from a 16 th century Italian sampler in the Victoria and Albert Museum (item # T.14-1931). |

I've finished the embroidery tonight. I kept a time log for this project and all of the embroidery has taken 19 hours. The first cuff took 6.75 hours, the second took 3.25, and the collar took 9 hours. I still have to tie off all the ends, which will take a few more hours. But *perhaps* I can have it done for the due date of October Crown. |
|
| I am not a 100% happy with the stitching; the tiny stitches and the thread count make the stitches bubble a little. I don't think this will be too big a deal, though. At least, I hope not. |

Yay, it's done! Long after the deadline, but better late than never. I tied off all the ends, which took 2 1/2 hours, and which put the total project time at 21 1/2 hours. Not bad for trim like this. I'll get it mailed out sometime this week. |
